The Center for Disease Control is the only Federal department with headquarters outside of DC, and is located adjacent to the Emory campus. The CDC provide extensive resources for information about health at home and abroad. 

The National Institutes for Health provides health education resources as well as extensive avenues for research funding. 

The National Science Foundation are an independent federal funding agency who provide grants for all forms of scientific endeavor.
